The Runway to Leadership: Achieving Excellence in Leadership within the NHS

Dear Leadership Delegate,

You are invited to the launch of The Runway to Leadership series commencing on Wednesday 13th February 2019, 4pm to 5.30pm, Room W142, Middlesex University London Campus.

The Runway to Leadership symposium will focus on leadership within the National Health Service and private sector. The Leadership series will look at the diversity and inclusivity of Nursing Leadership in modern times. The upcoming speakers will present on their chosen field of expertise with focus on Nursing Leadership.

In the first Runway to Leadership series, hosted by Middlesex University, Dr. Linda Collins would like to introduce speakers; Dr. Joan Myers OBE and Natoya Mamby-Campbell who will both be speaking on Achieving Excellence in Leadership within the NHS.

Dr Joan Myers OBE, MSc, BSc (Hons), RGN, RSCN, DipDN, PGCE, FHEA

Joan has over 30 years’ experience as a children’s nurse & Nurse Consultant working mainly in community settings across London developing children’s nursing services.

Joan is an Associate Director for Health Services and Chief Nurse in London where she is strategic lead for integrated services for children with disabilities. Joan was Professional Officer for Diversity at Department of Health from 2009 – 2011. She stepped down after five years as the Chair of CNO BME Strategic Advisory Group and advisor to the Chief Nursing Officer for England in 2017.

Joan received an OBE for services to children and nursing in 2013, she is a Queen’s nurse & in 2015 received an honorary doctorate from Middlesex University. Joan is a 2017 Florence Nightingale Foundation Leadership Scholar. In 2018 received a Zenith Global Health Award. Joan has a charity in Nakuru, Kenya providing education sponsorship and food to 25 vulnerable children.

Each guest speaker is invited to speak for 30 minutes and include a 15 minute Question and Answer session after each presentation.
