DARC Annual Conference 2018
Social work and problem substance use: Going in the right direction?
The role of social work in responding to problem substance use is the main theme of the conference. Against the background of current changes to social work structures and approaches, the conference will help participants to take stock of our engagement as a profession so far and to think about preparing for future challenges. Participants will have the opportunity to update on some current research findings and to reflect on how they might build on these to develop good practice with service users and carers who are experiencing alcohol and drug related problems.
Confirmed speakers include:
• Jill Manthorpe, Professor of Social Work and Director, Social Care Workforce Development Unit, King’s College London.
• Alex Baldacchino, Professor of Medicine, Psychiatry and Addictions, University of St Andrews.
• Louise O’Connor, Senior Lecturer in Social Work, Royal Holloway, University of London.
• Trish Hafford-Letchfield, Professor of Social Care, Middlesex University
All are welcome and the conference will be free to attend but booking is required.
